Lady of Coromoto

On September 11th we celebrated with our parishioner s the anniversary of the lady of Coromoto. The history of Our Lady of Coromoto centers around a series of apparitions of the Virgin Mary to Cospes tribe leader Coromoto and his wife in the late 17th century, in the area around Guanare, Venezuela. These apparitions, partiularly one in 1652, are believed to have led to the Coromoto tribe's conversion to Christianity. The event is commemorated in the National Sanctuary of Our Lady of Coromoto in Guanare, where a sacred relic of the Virgin's image is enshrined.
